Information You Need to Know About Paying Fees

  • For the year 2025/2026, the following fees are due:
    • Practising fee:
      • Full or 1st installment – due April 1, 2025
      • 2nd installment – due September 2, 2025
    • Insurance levy:
      • Full or 1st installment – due July 2, 2025
      • 2nd installment – due December 1, 2025
    • Newly Called Lawyers Participating in mass call and commencing practice on June 16, 2025:
      • Full or 1st installment – due June 20, 2025
      • 2nd installment – due October 1, 2025
      • 3rd installment – due January 2, 2026
  • Invoices & Receipt: When making payment, please refer to your specific invoice, which can be accessed under Payments > Invoices & Receipts on this portal. Receipts for practising fees are also located on your Member’s Portal.
  • Payment Methods: Payment of Insurance, practising and other fees can be made in a variety of ways. Please see Payment Methods.
  • Late Payments: Members who do not pay their fees and contribution by the due date must pay a late payment penalty of $10/day (maximum of $300). Members that fail to pay within 30 days of the due date are automatically suspended from practising law.
  • Law Corporation: The Law Corporation Permit renewal fee will be added to your annual invoice. Payment and the most recent annual return must be submitted by April 1st each year. Failure to submit the fees and the annual return the due date will result in late penalty fees of $10/day (maximum $300) and the permit of a Law Corporation will be automatically suspended if not received within 30 days of the due date.
  • FastTrack ID & Locker: If you currently have a FastTrack ID card and/or locker, the renewal fee will appear on your annual invoice. You must obtain a new card each April 1st, but there is a 30-day grace period for access to the Law Courts complex. If you choose not to renew your FastTrack ID card and/or locker, you may simply deduct the fee amount and GST from your submitted payment. Locker keys must be returned. If you currently do not have a FastTrack ID card and/or locker and would like one, please contact Shari Lough at slough@lawsociety.mb.ca or call 204-942-5571 for assistance.
  • Practice Status Change: If you intend to change your active practising status to Non-Practising you must file an Application to Withdraw from Practice. If you intend to resume active practice, you must submit an Application to Resume Active Practice. Both forms can be found on the Law Society website Membership Services Forms page.

  • Law Corporations – Rule 4-10 to 4-16
